Vettel Gets Pole In Malaysia With Ferrari One-Two

After a soak-filled afternoon during the Kuala Lumpur, Sebastian Vettel storms to another pole position with a second spare.

The rain hit the Sepang Circuit half way through Q2 causing many drivers to miss out the opportunity of Q3. A big name to miss out was Paul di Resta who was not able to put in a fast lap during the dry spells of Q2. When the spits of rain came, grip levels decreased causing him to spin off.

Vettel faced a difficult qualifying before his pole position lap, with him scraping through Q1 and Q2. However, it was the decision of Vettel to pit half way during Q3 which gained him that second advantage from having new intermediate tyres on.

After Mclaren's disappointing start to the 2013 season, both Jenson Button and Sergio Perez managed to qualify in the top ten which made clear the improvements the team has made to their cars.

Kimi Raikkonen gained another 7th but was later relegated down four places to 11th due to blocking Nico Rosberg during a competitive run.

Both Ferrari cars performed consistently well with Massa out performing his team mate, Alonso, now four times in a row. With Alonso being famous for lightning quick starts and from starting on the clean side of the grid, we can be sure that Alonso will fancy his chances of Vettel going into turn one.
